Red Robin - Ft. Myers, Florida

On July 31st, 2008 I was with my family at Marco Island. I know, how eighties, and as usual I had an ulterior motive for being there. I knew that Red Robin was only 45 minutes from where we were staying. I knew that there was no way I was going back to Miami without having gone to Red Robin. I've seen enough Red Robin commercials to know that I must go there. We get there and I realize that it's a very family oriented type restaurant, not at all what I envisioned or expected(not that there's anything wrong with that). We review the menu and decide to try out a few "shareable starters"(included is a pic of the starters as well as my dad happily looking on) which were the Towering Onion Rings, RR's Buzzard Wings & the Cheeseburger Con Queso. Alright so the wings were OK, nothing I haven't tasted before, not horrible just not memorable. The Towering Onion Rings were pretty good and the tangy sauce served with the order made it them better. Now the Cheeseburger Con Queso was definitely the highlight of all the starters we tasted. It's a cheese dipping sauce with ground beef, salsa and cilantro and it comes with a variety of flour and corn tortilla chips. This is the first time I am tempted to say "Yum" like the commercials, and I will restrain myself. Of course you must be wondering what I ordered from a place that fancies itself as the restaurant to get Gourmet burgers. I got the Royal Red Robin Burger: (Fresh fried egg, topped with three strips of hickory maple-smoked bacon, American cheese, crisp lettuce tomatoes and mayo). Just for the record I do not eat lettuce and tomato. It's just not my thing and I figured you may want to know that. So, oh yeah, the burger. Wow, what can I say? It was really good but then again I was expecting that. This could have been one of those cases like when I went to Sonic and I was left disappointed, but I'll leave that story for another post.

Red Robins is awesome! They're all over the Northwest (they started in Oregon). We moved down from Seattle earlier this year in miss them. I didn't even know until recently there were 3 locations in Florida. We live just south of West Palm Beach but will be making a trip over to Ft. Myers Dec. 22 to visit Red Robins (among whatever else we can find to do!).
