I had been thinking about it all day, as soon as 5 clock hits,
Ed,
John and I were gonna go to
Smokey Bones. We drive up to to the place and as luck would have it, they're closed for the day for renovations. We were given a $5 off our next visit coupon, which would be great if we lived anywhere near here. Our nearest option is
Chili's , so we take it. I'll be honest, I went into this place thinking the worst. I've never been a fan of these type of chain restaurants and by that I mean: Chili's, T.G.I. Fridays,
Applebees & the now defunct
Bennigan's. Since Ed & John can't control themselves we order 3 appetizers., I tell you, these guys are out of control. We get the
Classic Nachos (beans, queso with a hint of seasoned beef, cheese and jalapeños on individual chips. Not bad but I've had way better.

We also had the
Skillet Queso (cheese dip with seasoned beef, served with "tostada" chips) . Alright a bit of overkill since we had the nachos but so what. That cheese dip is good.

This is the appetizer I chose:
Texas Cheese Fries ( fries topped with melted cheese, jalapeños, applewood smoked bacon & jalapeño-ranch dressing.) Best thing so far but is that really saying something?

I decide on the
Smokehouse Bacon Triple-The-Cheese Big Mouth Burger (believe it or not, that's the actual name, what a waste of ink) ,

it's got extra thick-cut applewood smoked bacon with three cheeses ( smoked cheddar, swiss and provolone), sauteed onions, and jalapeño-ranch dressing. I'll tell you one thing, this is one case where the flavors on top of the burger overpower the burger itself. Although the burger itself was insignificant in this equation, I really dug the spicy bacon. So the moral of the story? When in doubt get bacon on everything.
