Flanigan's - Doral, Florida
Labels: Doral, Ed, Flanigan's, Fred, Loggerhead, Marcela 11 commentsOver the course of the last 15 years I have eaten at Flanigan's quite a few times. It has never really been a favorite of mine but whenever I've wanted to get a cold beer (one of the few places I could get Red Elephant beer back in the day) and some appetizers, this is always one of the first places to come up. Ed swears by this place and one time Fred and I ordered so many appetizers that they didn't even fit on the table (the ends of the plates were overlapping each other). Marcela and I recently went to Flanigan's to have some appetizers and I had, you guessed it, a burger. For appetizers we had Joe's Rockin' Rib Rolls and an order of Chicken Crispers in hot sauce. Joe's Rockin' Rib Rolls are deep fried egg rolls filled with rib meat from their baby back ribs, pulled pork, cheddar cheese and their barbecue sauce.
These little guys are good and that should mean something because I'm not a fan of ribs. If all of the appetizers on the menu were Ed's children, this is the kid who could not do no wrong. He loves them, and I like them, I guess you can be the deciding vote if you try them. The Chicken Crispers are my favorite of Ed's children. The crispers are moist chicken strips which might not be for everyone, Ed prefers the strips to be dry like his personality(t minus I getting a reply for that one). I prefer the hot or barbecue version, but if you're a wimp they're available in mild or medium.
Other appetizers to consider are their Potato Skins which are actually semi hollowed out potato halves (large ones not the T.G.I. Fridays size) with cheddar cheese and bacon bits(I like 'um) and the Loaded Nachos (Marcela and Ed think these are the greatest nachos and I just don't see it). I've had all of the burgers here at one time or another but I decided to go with the Caribbean Burger on this venture.
It's an enjoyable burger but nothing really out of this world. I do realize I will get some heat for that comment because there are a few people who seem to really love this burger, unfortunately I do not agree with that sentiment. I'll just stick to my ice cold beer and appetizers, thank you very much.

this is an outrage. what are you doing at that flanigan's? everyone knows the loggerhead in the grove is the good one. c'mon beast, you're letting me down here.
those rib rolls are too filling for me. I eat just one and i'm too stuffed for my caribbean burger.

I knew I would get heat for that comment. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and I will go to the one in the Grove, which is the one I used to frequent back in the day.

The one in the grove is just older and its frequented by more drunk people, that is why people think its the best.
And there was no need for that pot shot.

Man, first you dis the ribs, then the Caribbean burger?
Those are the two best things on the menu.
But I agree with GJ, you need to go to the Loggerhead.
And where else in Miami can you get a pitcher of Heineken and a burger at 4:45 a.m.?
This is one review I don't agree with.

Damn, I'm going down hard for this review.

You know, you've never really experienced danger/comedy/great food until you've been to the Hialeah location, you had to go to the blandest(read:safest) one, huh? Man, you're getting old dude.

Keep it coming.

I usually agree with almost every review, but gotta disagree here, I really love their burgers... Give the one in the grove or north miami a shot.

Just wanted to ask, what's up with that picture?
That's not Doral, that's Kendall.
Atleast get the picture right.

You're right, it is a picture from Kendall but that doesn't change anything.
