For some time I've known the secret of the McDonald's Express located in Kendall. What's the secret? The fact that they serve the old school apple pies, the deep fried ones. I hope you know what I'm talking about because if you don't you should. The deep fried apple pie was replaced by it's baked brother in 1992, a tragedy if you ask me. A good ten years back someone mentioned to me that you could find the Original Apple Pie at a McDonald's Express. At the time I lived near this express located in Kendall. I drove there and I couldn't believe it, there they were waiting for me all these years. The only reason McDonald's Express' have them is because they are unable to fit the oven for the baked pies in their limited kitchen space. I guess that makes sense but that also means if a regular McDonald's wanted to sell them, they could because they are still available. The McDonald's Express has a limited menu, any burger made with their cheeseburger sized meat is available. The one I went to had a Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger, Triple Cheeseburger and Big Mac on the menu as well as fries and McNuggets. If I were you, I'd make the trip just for the pies, I did.
