Quickie's Burgers & Wings - Hollywood, Florida
Labels: Hollywood, Marcela, Quickie's, Wings 9 commentsIt's always great when a reader turns me onto to a great new place. Marcela and I make the drive to check out the Quickie's location in Hollywood, Florida (plans are in the works for a second location in Pembroke Pines).
It's very cool to see that they have a drive-thru but we won't be using that today.
Marcela orders the Quickie's Original 1/3 pound with cheese but before she could order that I asked for 12 wings (6 Golden BBQ and 6 Extremely Hot). I had the Quickie's Original 1/2 pound with bacon and cheese (it also has onion strings and Quickie sauce).
Both of us get combos which includes fries and a fountain drink. Let's talk about the wings. The wings were crispy and fried with no breading. The Extremely Hot was good but the Golden BBQ sauce was amazing. What's even better is if you ask, they'll mix both sauces for you which is what I'd suggest.
The burgers were awesome. It had a great smokey flavor and the fries were good also (they had some seasoned salt on them). You'll be served a side of their Quickie sauce with your meal. Use the Quickie sauce to dip your fries, trust me! There's also Salads, Chicken and Mahi-Mahi sandwiches on the menu (plus a Jerk sauce I didn't get to try).
Marcela had a Blondie which she ate in record time. Quickie's Burger & Wings has only been around a few months but they're doing things right. The only thing missing is a Shake but they're working on it. There are also daily specials which can be found right on the front page of their site. Once a month is their "Master The Quickie" Challenge (it's a 4 pound burger). Do you dare take the challenge? I'm not gonna lie, I'm considering it.

I tried the Jerk burger. While the burger itself was good, the jerk sauce was little more than rance sauce with a few spices. It had no heat whatsoever, which is an important component of jerk seasoning in my opinion.

Hey, Burger Beast:-)
It was great having you and Marcela in the store. It was even better that you enjoyed your meal. Thanks for getting the word out. We appreciate it.
(Randian, it is def. not ranch. lol But, you're correct. It is a jerk sauce for the masses and not very hot. But, if you'd like, we can kick it up for you. Just let us know. We aim to please.)
As for the 4LB Challenge--well, that burger has not been mastered. Two worthy attempts were made last Saturday, but no masters!
Quickie's would like to invite you, the Burger Beast, to take the challenge on Saturday, November 21st, at six o'clock, as our guest (that doesn't mean we won't have you sign the release form...lol). We don't believe that such a master has been 'made' yet.
Give us a call and let us know.

I eat there all the time. I am a Quickie junkie! My favorite is their backyard BBQ-style burger and fries. You are right about dipping the fries in their sauce. It is the way to go. I'll see you there Mr. Burger Beast.

Great post. Sounds like a place that's worth the drive.

I saw this post a few days ago and today I happened to be in that neighborhood today so I stopped by for lunch.
I had a burger and all I can say is that they are great. I had the deluxe. The lettuce and tomato were very fresh and the meat was cooked perfectly. Also worth mentioning that the staff was very friendly. No complaints here and Im a picky MF.
I'll definitely be back. Thanks for the headsup Beast!

I went there with the kids today after reading other posts. I had the ½ pound Quickie meal and the girls had the burger kid’s meal. The aspiring vegetarian, who makes exceptions for burgers and hot dogs, gave her sliders a raving thumbs up.
Both went gaga for the fries even though I was afraid they may balk at the spice mixture sprinkled on them (the potatoes that is, not the kids).
Of course we had to have the wings, which were the first to arrive. We immediately jumped on these perfectly fried poultry appendages. Since the owners were most accommodating in providing different saucing within one order, I was able to enjoy my spicy wings, while the girls devoured the golden bbq and plain wings. We were so involved in eating the wings and discussing the relative merits of different sauces that I neglected to pay attention to my ½ pond burger and left sitting on the table.
Well, did I have a riot act read to me about letting it sit there and continue to cook on the plate after I made a point of asking for a medium rare. I promise I shall never stray from the path again and sink my teeth into the burger served as soon as the serving hands are retracted to a safe distance away from my teeth.
We have already made plans for a return visit, seeing as the girls harbor a delusional expectation of winning a bike (one kid’s bike raffled off every Sunday).
Heads up! There is a Philly cheese steak sandwich in the works. The one they were kind enough to offer me for a tasting was great, although it tasted more like a beef stroganoff on a roll, and I mean it as a good thing.

I dined here yesterday and u was at first hesitant bc it's a small place...I'm sorry I just don't jump at small restaurants. I am so glad I gave this place a chance. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by the cashier. She noticed we were newbies and began talking to us about our options for a first time visit. I liked that! We had the 1/3 with and without cheese and wings combos. The burgers were juicy and didn't taste frozen. They were grilled nice and wo burn. The sauce was mild and good but I wouldn't dip my fries...sorry. I tried and it threw off my seasoned fry taste. The onion straws were perfect not oniony and Iove that!! The wings were very good. Mild was packin alittle punch wo the fire . The management and staff were so nice! They refilled our drinks wo us asking. I can tell other customers enjoy the personal attention to customer attention. Would I dine here again?? Yes. Today as a matter of fact!

I've been cranking out journalism for 9 years as a pro, and 18 as a pro-am , and being adopted by the BB cast and the Quickie's family is one of the best benefits I've ever had.
Quickie's is not only the best hamburger joint I've ever been to - it is in the top ten percentile of south florida restaurants - regardless of cuisine. for quick eats in a 100 mile radius, I'd put Quickie's right next to Christine's Roti Shop in the pantheon. and christine is leaving for jamaica permanently in february - so that just leaves quickies. I will say that the 1/2 pounder is much better than the 1/3 pounder - because there's that much more to love!

Totally overrated. I tried it. The burger was different for the fact it was grilled. I give it a 3 out of 5.
don't get me wrong it was good, but its certainly not the best burger in South FLA.
