New Fuddruckers Fudds Prime Beef - Review

November 17th was the first day Fuddruckers began selling their new Fudds Prime beef. "100% All-American premium-cut beef only from Fudds Herd, born and raised humanely, and bred for taste only on select U.S. ranches through exceptional lineage, open grazing and vegetarian feed." Although I like the idea of beef from their Fudds Herd that is treated well, it remains to be seen whether they would be able to better their already really good burgers. A couple of the mastodons (Ed & Fred) accompanied me including baby mastodon Joseph and his wife Maribel. If you're going to go to Fuddruckers with these guys make sure you're not last to order like I was. 3 registers open and these guys were tying up the line like it was Black Friday. I finally get to order and because of a previous conversation, Ed and I decide we will also be sharing a hot dog. Unfortunatley there weren't any hot dogs that day so I had to settle for chili cheese fries.
I order my 2/3 pounder Medium with 3 cheeses (swiss, cheddar and jack). As tempted as I was to order the 1 pounder, I knew that it takes longer to cook. I really was dying to try this. I'm handed one of their pager devices with the Fudds Prime in full hype mode on it.
We get our drinks and take a seat waiting for the device to go off. Everyone else of course received their food before I did. Once my doodad lit up, I went up and claimed the goods. I added some diced onions & jalapenos to my (I mean our...) chili cheese fries and honey mustard & diced onions to my burger.
The honey mustard was an accident, I meant to add mayo. By the time I get back to the table everyone's had a few bites of their Fudds Prime burgers. We end up in 2 camps with Ed and I believing it was better the way it was before. Sure, the same fresh baked bun adds to it but this burger seems to be way leaner meat (which I'm not a fan of). The unmistakable flavor of a "Fuddruckers Burger" has been replaced with this Fudds Prime burger. Am I likely to give it another shot? Sure, I've been a fan of Fuddruckers for over 25 years and like I said, 3 out of the 5 people at the table liked it. Maybe I was expecting too much?

All of them switched over on November 17th. The one I went to was the location near Doral on 107th avenue.

It's actually the same leanness - about 70%. I think you should give it one more try. I just had one in Austin yesterday and it was juicy and delish.
